Winter 2017

In Busselton, a small town south of Perth. They don’t get many cruise ships so they had really made a huge effort to make us welcome.  There’s not a lot to do so we wandered down Main Street taking in the sights and sounds. The QM2 is too large to get in close to the jetty, so we were moored 3 miles off and were ferried back and forth on tenders (otherwise known as the ship’s lifeboats). The weather was fine in the morning but the rain came in at about 2.00pm, the result was that people who had chosen to ride on top of the tender got quite wet as you will see from the photo — still, it was warm rain. The other picture is me with Mr Bussel, the founder of Busselton (in around 1840, I believe)

Winter 2017

A brilliant day in Perth with lovely weather.

We were met off the ship in Fremantle by friends Elfie and Ro. They gave us a tour of downtown Perth and a visit to the Mint where we saw gold being poured into an ingot.

We then went to Kings Park/Botanical Gardens where we had lunch followed by a long walk with spectacular views of the city. Tonight we are on the way to Busselton, we will arrive tomorrow morning (Monday).

Winter 2017

Back in business with the photos — shared between devices using Airdrop, why didn’t I think of that before (Doah).

So, here are 3 from Reunion. Mauritius will follow as a separate posting

Winter 2017

I am having difficulty with sharing photos between my devices. I think it’s to do with the slow satellite connection from the ship.  Anyhow, we had 4 sea days after leaving Port Elizabeth followed by one day in La Reunion and now, today, we have been in Mauritius. I will post some photos if and when I can get the Cloud sharing to work.

Now we will have 7 days at sea on the way to Fremantle (Perth, Western Australia). We arrive there on Feb 12 when I will do my next posting.
